Making its mark on the skyline of downtown Denver, the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences is one of the newest developments to stake a claim in this growing metropolis. Scheduled for completion in 2010, the project is located on the northwest corner of 14th Street and Arapahoe Street, near such acclaimed restaurants as the Capital Grille and Restaurant Kevin Taylor, and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the second largest performing arts center in the country.

Made from concrete and glass, the 45-story structure has been designed by Jackson Hole–based architect John Carney. "The building is visible from across town, so we were very aware of how it would look within the context of the city," explains Carney, who lived in Denver for 11 years before moving to Wyoming in 1992. "From a distance, the building looks very traditional, with concrete tiers and glass tapering off toward the top. But, close up, it’s more modern."

Inside, Jan Clausen, of Atlanta’s Clausen-Chewning Interior Design, brought aspects of rural Denver to the residences with her furnishing choices and color palette. Clausen specified three different finishing palettes—ranging from dark-toned Avant-Garde, featuring zebrawood, black lacquer, and granite, to Modern Classic, which includes white-washed natural oak and French vanilla–colored marble. All units offer appliances by Miele, Wolf, and Sub-Zero.

The 102 residences, nearly half of which have already sold, will be built on floors 18 through 45, giving each home a view of the city and the surrounding landscape, while hotel rooms will occupy the first 16 floors of the building. The one- to four-bedroom units range from 964 square feet to 6,100 square feet for the two two-level penthouses (both of which have already sold). Current prices range from $895,000 to $7.7 million.

Residents have access to all hotel amenities, including the rooftop terrace, as well as the residents-only 17th floor with a fitness center. Other services available upon request include 24-hour room service, housekeeping, plant and pet care, in-residence spa treatments, shoe shines, and nightly turndown service.
