William Emmerson’s Ab Ovo chaise ($6,500) is made from solid
walnut with woven leather and brass rods. The lounge chairs are handmade to
order and also are available in teak with woven cotton ($7,000) for outdoor use.

[2] DayNa Decker Environments
DayNa Decker’s Ora oil sculpture ($400) is a contemporary take
on a traditional oil lamp. Standing 12 inches tall, the piece features a
double-metal wick that reproduces the sound of crackling wood.

Berkshires designer David Llewellyn created this three-drawer
mitered chest ($705), made from bird’s-eye maple and pulls and splines that are
made from rosewood.

A former apprentice to George Nakashima,
William Hoehne creates pieces designed by his partner, Susan Clark. This Fish
Mobile ($950) is crafted from maple and has a bamboo pole and stone base.

North Carolina–based Brian Fireman says that the inspiration
for his handcrafted art is oftentimes the wood itself. Such is the case for the
Heron table ($2,300), which is created from a cut of tree where a single trunk
splits in two.
