George Nakashima, a pioneer of the American Craft Movement, once said, "A tree is our most intimate contact with nature." To add some of that intimacy to your vacation home, consider the following fine wood furnishings, all of which were crafted in the United States.

[1] Emmerson Troop
William Emmerson’s Ab Ovo chaise ($6,500) is made from solid walnut with woven leather and brass rods. The lounge chairs are handmade to order and also are available in teak with woven cotton ($7,000) for outdoor use.

[5] Brian Fireman Design
North Carolina–based Brian Fireman says that the inspiration for his handcrafted art is oftentimes the wood itself. Such is the case for the Heron table ($2,300), which is created from a cut of tree where a single trunk splits in two.
